Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life by using her vivid and broad imagination. Songs were written by her before she was able to write or read. Once she had her first guitar at age of 8, she began to perform at radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small label that is independent. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at High School, she knew her ambitions were bigger. The year 1964 was the day following her graduation from high-school, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart from Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. It was not until 1974 that she decided to leave Wagoner's program as the popularity of her solo albums such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached the top spot at No. This was the first time a single reached No.
